Model 8233-E8B or 8236-E8C voltage regulator modules

Learn how to remove or replace a voltage regulator module in an IBM® server.

The server contains up to four system processor assemblies. There are two voltage regulator modules that can be replaced on the system processor assembly, the processor voltage regulator module (location C1) and the memory voltage regulator module (location C10). Figure 1 shows the voltage regulator module locations.

If a VMR fault LED is illuminated, that module must be replaced. The LEDs are labeled P7-VRM and M-VRM and are located on top of the system processor assembly. Figure 2 shows the identification LEDs.

To complete these procedures, you need to print the System processor assembly topic collection and then return here. If the IBM Power Systems™ hardware information is available on a PC or a notebook that is close to the system on which you are installing or replacing parts, you can use the online version.

The following procedures describe the removal and replacement of the memory and the processor voltage regulator modules.
