Automatic updates can also be enabled by clicking Window > Preferences > Install/Update > Automatic Updates.

Pros and cons

Pros:
  • Simple installation by extracting the product archive file.
  • No need to download or customize the Eclipse Installer from the internet.
Cons:
  • Automatic updates are not enabled by default. Update preferences must be set in all TPF Toolkit instances to install TPF Toolkit updates.

Consider this method if any of the following conditions is met:
  • You do not have internet access.
  • Features that the Eclipse Installer provides such as default automatic updates are not important.
  • Your organization plans to install TPF Toolkit as a single Eclipse multi-user installation on a host with shared access by your users.
