Model page

On the Model page in the Configure Deployment wizard, select the software instance to use as a model for configuring the target software instance.

The Model page is displayed when the objective of the deployment is to create a new software instance. If the objective is to replace an existing software instance, the existing instance is used as the model. If you are working with a copy of a deployment, the configuration specified for the original deployment is used as the model.

For a description of the field displayed on the Model page, see Table 1.

When selecting a model, choose a software instance that uses data set naming conventions, volume assignments, and zone names similar to those you want to use in the target software instance. When you click Next, z/OSMF uses the data set names, volumes, mount points, and SMP/E zone names associated with the model to prime the corresponding values for the target software instance. You can modify these values on the corresponding pages in the wizard.

Priming the target software instance might take several minutes to complete; therefore, when you click Next, z/OSMF displays a progress indicator that informs you that the request is being processed. For more details about the indicator, see help topic About progress indicators.
