Setting up secure remote access

WebSphere Automation requires remote access to managed servers to apply security fixes or to collect the heap dump information. WebSphere Automation and the managed servers must be properly configured to allow for remote access.

If your managed servers use Linux® or UNIX, use the instructions to set up SSH on the servers and WebSphere Automation. If your managed servers use Windows, use the instructions for setting up SSH or WinRM on the servers and WebSphere Automation. If you have both types of servers, use both sets of instructions to create separate secrets for remote secure access by WebSphere Automation.

Note: If you set up remote secure access to apply security fixes, you do not need to set it up again to collect heap dump information.

Before you begin

Make sure that servers to be managed meet the prerequisites in Managed server requirements.
