Extended ADCD

Extended ADCD is built upon the general release of ADCD z/OS® V2R4 May Edition of 2021. The Extended ADCD contains some changes to support IBM Cloud Pak® for Applications, and improve the z/OS system start performance for Java™ heavy subsystems.

Other configuration changes

As IBM Wazi Developer for Red Hat® CodeReady Workspaces is to provide a working environment, other software components need to be updated to work with z/OS explorer and Debugging components. The changes do not affect any of the existing product configurations, but rather add extra functions.

  • CICS® now requires basic RACF® authentication when you sign on CICS by 3270 VTAM® terminal application.
  • CICS IP Sockets are configured, both secure (https) and non-secure TCPIPSERVICE connections are created.
  • z/OS Debugger is configured for CICS, IMS, and Db2®.
  • z/OS Explorer is configured for z/OS Debugger, RSE API, and RSE Extensions.
  • TCP/IP AT-TLS is configured for secure port connections where applicable.
  • Dependency Based Build Manager Daemon is configured.

Java enhancements

The changes that are made in the Extend ADCD do not significantly affect the ADCD packages. The only exception is to improve the z/OS system start performance for the following Java heavy subsystems, especially when you introduce extra layers of virtualization with OpenShift®.
  • z/OS Explorer, Explorer API, and Explorer Extensions
  • z/OS Debug Manager, Debug Profile, and remote Debug Service
  • DBB
  • z/OSMF
  • z/OS Connect
  • UrbanCode® Deploy

Extended ADCD startup

Extended ADCD for Sandbox is IPLed by using a new system parameter. The new parameter can provide some alternative configuration that is required to run Sandbox in the OpenShift environment.

z/OS is IPLed by using NZ load parameter. For example, IPL 0A80 PARM 0A82N.
