Middleware software requirements
Install all required middleware software before you start to install System Automation Application Manager.
The following middleware software must be installed on the system on which System Automation Application Manager runs before the component itself
can be installed:
- DB2®: A DB2 server for a local setup or a DB2 JDBC driver for a remote setup.
- WebSphere® Application Server (64-bit version, Java 8 enabled)
- Jazz for Service Management including Dashboard Application Services Hub
- Install the libXrender package from the site AIX
Toolbox as the Installation Manager application depends on Open Source
libXrender.
And unset LIBPATH and set as follows:
export LIBPATH=/opt/freeware/lib:/opt/freeware/lib64:$LIBPATH
- DB2 setup options
-
The database that is required for System Automation Application Manager is DB2. There are different options how to set up DB2. When you plan to install System Automation Application Manager, decide which option you want to choose. You have the following options:
- Local DB2 setup
- The DB2 server is installed and runs on the same node on which System Automation Application Manager is installed.
- Remote DB2 setup
- The DB2 server is installed and runs on a node other than the node on which System Automation Application Manager is installed. In this case, you need to install a DB2 JDBC driver on the System Automation Application Manager node.
- DB2 software prerequisites
- Before you can install System Automation Application Manager, IBM® DB2 must be installed on the
system where the database of System Automation Application Manager is hosted. For a new DB2 installation, install IBM DB2 Version 10.1 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows, Limited Use edition, which is bundled with System Automation Application Manager Version 4.1. If you order System Automation Application Manager Version 4.1 after fix pack 4.1.0.6 is available, IBM DB2 Version 11.5 Mod 7 Fix Pack 0 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows, Limited use edition is bundled with System Automation Application Manager. In this case, you can also install this DB2 version. Alternatively, you can use the following database version as well:
- IBM DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Window, Standard Edition, Version 11.5 Mod 7 Fix Pack 0 (64-bit) or higher
- Local DB2 setup
- No additional prerequisites are required for a local DB2 setup. If you are using a local DB2 setup, the DB2 definitions are processed by the installation program. It creates the end-to-end automation management database and the database tables during the installation of System Automation Application Manager.
- Remote DB2 setup
- Manual installation steps are required for a remote DB2 setup. Before you can install System Automation Application Manager, the following software prerequisites must be manually installed:
- A DB2 JDBC driver must be installed on the System Automation Application Manager node.
- WebSphere Application Server
- IBM®
Tivoli®
System Automation Application Manager supports the 64-bit
version of WebSphere Application Server only. Make sure
that WebSphere Application Server is configured to run with Java 8. The following application servers are supported:
- WebSphere Application Server version 9.0.5.11 and future releases, modifications, and fix packs.
Check the following publication to find out which requirements need to be met for installing and running WebSphere Application Server Base:- The
ReadMe
file, which is available on the product DVD "IBM WebSphere Application Server Base Version 8.5". - The "Getting started" topics in the IBM Knowledge Center for IBM WebSphere Application Server, Version 8.5.
- An IBM WebSphere Application Server Getting started document is also available on the product DVD for your operating system, where it is also referred to as Installation Guide. Make sure that all requirements for installing and running WebSphere Application Server are met. Otherwise, System Automation Application Manager might not work properly.
All versions of WebSphere Application Server publications can be found at:
- Jazz for Service Management
- The versions of the Jazz for Service Management components listed below are those contained on
the product DVDs and in the corresponding electronic deliverables that you receive when you order
System Automation Application Manager 4.1. Starting with fix pack 4.1.0.6 the minimum versions of
the Jazz for Service Management components have changed to:
- Jazz for Service Management, Version 1.1.3.15
- IBM Dashboard Application Services Hub, Version 3.1.3.15
- IBM WebSphere Application Server, Version 9.0.5.11
- The following Jazz for Service Management components are at least required for the System Automation Application Manager server:
- Jazz for Service Management Version 1.1.3.10 including Installation Manager (This includes the
base version to install JazzSM 15):
- AIX: JSM1.1.3.10_FOR_AIX_ML.zip (G00NKZX.zip)
- Linux: JSM1.1.3.10_FOR_LNX_ML.zip (G00NLZX.zip)
- Linux on System Z: JSM1.1.3.10_FOR_ZLNX_ML.zip (G00NMZX.zip)
- Jazz for Service Management extension for IBM WebSphere 9, Version 1.1.3.15
- IBM Dashboard Application Services Hub, Version 3.1.3.15
- Jazz for Service Management Version 1.1.3.10 including Installation Manager (This includes the
base version to install JazzSM 15):
- IBM WebSphere Application Server Version 9.0.5.11 or higher is supported. You can choose to
install WebSphere Application Server when you install Jazz for Service Management, or you can use an
existing supported WebSphere Application Server instance.Note: Only the 64-bit version of the IBM WebSphere SDK for Java is supported.
- Ensure that enough disk space is available for the installation. At least 3 GBs are required.
You can run the prerequisite scanner from the Jazz for Service Management installation package to
list the precise requirements that depend on your operating system. To run the prerequisite scanner,
enter the following
commands:
The prerequisite scanner prints the expected disk space and other prerequisites.export JazzSM_FreshInstall=True <JazzSM_Image_Home>/PrereqScanner/prereq_checker.sh "ODP,DSH" detail
- You can find the requirements report for IBM Dashboard Application Services Hub on the following web page System requirements report for IBM Dashboard Application Services Hub
- Jazz for Service Management Version documentation
- Some extra features of Jazz for Service Management require a database (for example, the registry
services). If you plan to use one of those features, you can use the following DB2 versions:
- DB2 Standard Edition version 11.5 Mod 7 Fix Pack 0 (64-bit)
Starting from System Automation Application Manager Version 4.1.0.6:
For z systems, to install the DB2 11.5 Mod 7 Fix Pack 0, the IBM XL C/C++ library libibmc++.so is required.
This library is a prerequisite to the installation of DB2 11.5 Mod 7 Fix Pack 0. Before installation of the DB2 11.5 Mod 7 Fix Pack 0, the package IBM_XL_C_CPP_V1.2.0.0_LINUX_390_RUNTIME.tar.gz is required to be downloaded and setup. The setup step installs the above library libibmc++.so inside the system.
