What's new in Netcool/Impact
This documentation applies to Netcool/Impact 7.1.0 and all fix packs, unless indicated otherwise.
The following features were new or enhanced in Netcool®/Impact 7.1. Other changes have subsequently been made through the release of the various Fix Packs.
- Faster and simplified installation process, due to changes in the product installer and the incorporation of IBM Installation Manager.
- User Interface: Netcool/Impact has a new user interface that is more intuitive and provides a greater user experience.
- Expanded Netcool/Impact integration with Jazz for Service Management.
- Communication with a web services provider by using a proxy. For more information about using a proxy, see Enabling and disabling proxy settings using WSInvokeDL in the DSA Reference Guide.
- Host name and port reconfiguration scripts: Scripts are available to change the host name or HTTP port of the Netcool/Impact installation. For more information, see Changing the host name of a Netcool/Impact installation and Changing the HTTP port topics.
- Federation into Dashboard Application Services Hub (DASH): You can integrate Netcool/Impact with the Dashboard Applications Services Hub to view the Netcool/Impact GUI. The Dashboard Application Services Hub is a component of Jazz for Service Management. - UI Data Provider visual display enhancements: Enhanced the visual display of the status and percentage in the Dashboard Application Services Hub, and display of the topology widget.
- Column labels in the Dashboard Applications Services Hub can be displayed in the locale of the browser. For more information about new column labels, see Column labels in the browser locale inside the console in the Solutions Guide.
- Large data model support in UI data provider: Added support for Derby DB and HSQLDB. For more information about large data model support, see Large data model support for the UI data provider in the Solutions Guide.
- Support for Netcool/OMNIbus controlled failback feature.
- Security configuration procedures are improved and simplified.
- JavaScript engine supports the JavaScript 1.8 standard.
- WebServices: Passwords are encrypted and there is improved exception handling.
- Policy debugging: Automatic policy logging by current context, function variables and query diagnostics. For more information about policy debugging, see Policy logger service in the Solutions Guide.
- Introduced two new policy functions. The
Escape
function escapes special characters in an input string in a policy. TheIllegal
function produces an exception in a policy when the input in the policy has malicious content. For more information about both functions, see Working with functions in the Policy Reference Guide.
