The Maintenance page
This topic describes features that are available in the new design of the user interface. This new design is enabled by default. If you switched to the legacy design, click in the navigation bar of the user interface and then turn on the toggle to re-enable the new design. For more information, see New Design for the User Interface.
The Maintenance page provides options for advanced users, such setting logging levels and uploading diagnostics data for Turbonomic technical support. Contact technical support for assistance with these options.
To view the Maintenance page, navigate to Settings > Maintenance. The page includes the following tabs:
-
Maintenance settings
This tab includes settings for logging levels, HTTP proxy, and data retention.
-
Telemetry and diagnostics
This tab includes settings for telemetry data sharing and diagnostics.
Logging levels
You can set the level of logging for different components of the Turbonomic platform. Be aware that setting more verbose logging levels increases the disk space that is required to store the log files. You normally change these settings only while you are working with technical support.
HTTP proxy
If your environment requires an HTTP proxy for Turbonomic to access the web, provide the credentials.
Data retention
Turbonomic uses data collected from your environment to perform its analysis. Data includes audit log entries, reports, statistics, plans, and actions. The platform retains data for a certain period of time and automatically removes older data to optimize data storage.
You can always modify the default retention values to meet your requirements. A longer retention period requires more storage, while a shorter period means less data is available for analysis.
Telemetry data sharing
Turbonomic relies on feedback from customers to continuously improve the product. One way that Turbonomic receives feedback is by collecting telemetry data, including IP address and approximate geolocation, as users interact with the product. Your participation in this initiative is voluntary and you can opt out at any time, but it does help Turbonomic deliver a better user experience for customers.
This feature is enabled by default after you update to version 8.12.1 or later. You must have the Administrator role to enable or disable this feature. When enabled, Turbonomic collects browser event data for all users who are logged in to the product, and reviews the data on an ongoing basis to make improvements. The data is only used by IBM for product development and feature improvement.
For air-gapped Turbonomic instances, the sending of telemetry data is limited to browser-based usage analytics. It is recommended to configure the Turbonomic deployment with internet connectivity to avoid any interruptions.
For more information about Turbonomic's privacy policy, see the IBM Privacy Statement page.
Diagnostics
If you experience problems with Turbonomic, technical support might request that you upload diagnostic data for analysis. Click Upload diagnostics to upload data to one of the following IBM repositories:
-
IBM Enhanced Customer Data Repository (ECuRep)
To use ECuRep, you need an IBMid to generate the IBM Support File Transfer ID and password that are required to upload data.
Note:You can also upload data to ECuRep by following the instructions in this IBM Support page.
-
IBM Blue Diamond
To use Blue Diamond, you need IBM Blue Diamond credentials (username and password).
Note:You can also upload data to Blue Diamond by following the instructions in this IBM Support page.
To review and save the diagnostics data that you uploaded, click Download diagnostics.
