Moving inventory with a move request

You can move inventory from the back of the store to the store-front and vice versa.

About this task

In each move request, you can include up to 500 move tasks. If you want to include more move tasks, create more move requests to manage the inventory effectively.

Watch this video to learn how you can easily move inventory within a store by using Sterling Store Engagement.

Procedure

Note: The move inventory portal does not support the location scan as it is not a mandatory configuration.
To move inventory, complete the following steps:
  1. Log in to Sterling Store Engagement.
  2. From the application menu, select Inventory management.
  3. In the Move inventory portlet, click a count. The list of move tasks is displayed.

If a list of move requests is displayed, use the filter as follows:

    1. Click Filter.
    2. Select appropriate options under Assigned to, Status, or Type.
    3. Click Done.
If required, click Sort to sort the move requests.
  4. Click Move or Continue.
  5. Scan the location from where you are picking the products, followed by the SKU, or serial of the products.

If you want to cancel a move request, from the Actions menu in the Move summary page, select Cancel move. Select the appropriate move tasks that you want to cancel, enter the cancellation reason, and confirm the cancellation.

  6. Scan the location from where you are picking the products, followed by the SKU, or serial of the products.
If the source location is short of products, click Record shortage, select a reason, and click Done.
  7. Scan the location where you want to place the picked products, followed by the SKU, or serial of the products.
If the products cannot be placed in the destination location, click Alternate location, select a reason, and click Done.
  8. Click Done.
