Download and installation instructions

Note: The following steps assume that you have already purchased IBM® SPSS® Statistics Subscription - Early Access from the IBM Marketplace.

To download and install IBM SPSS Statistics Subscription - Early Access, go to the IBM Marketplace and then:

  1. Sign in with your IBM account (also known as IBMid). You must register for an IBMid if you do not already have an active IBM account.
  2. After you log in, your account profile provides a Product and Services section that displays all of the IBM products and services to which your are entitled.
  3. Click Download next to IBM SPSS Statistics Subscription - Early Access.
  4. On the Product and Services page, click the Download link underneath IBM SPSS Statistics Subscription - Early Access.
  5. Select the appropriate download option (for example Microsoft Windows 64-bit or macOS) and then click Download.
  6. Click Save File if prompted.
  7. Navigate to the save file location on your workstation and double-click the installer file. On the macOS, you must double-click the installer file after you mount the disk image.
  8. Follow the installation steps (including accepting the license agreement) until the product installation is complete.
  9. IBM SPSS Statistics Subscription - Early Access is now ready for use.

Windows silent installation instructions

  1. Run the following command from a Windows command prompt window: SPSSStatisticsSub_Setup_x64.exe -s -p {InstallPath} --log C:\temp\installer.log -l ACCEPTED
    • The -l ACCEPTED flag is required and indicates that you accept the license agreement.
    • The -s flag indicates a silent installation.
    • The installer uses the default installation path (C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\Subscription) when the -p flag is not used. You must enclose the installation path in quotation marks when the path includes space characters.
    • The --log flag must begin with double-dash and must define an absolute path that includes the log file name. In the above example, the installation log file is written to the C:\temp directory. Refer to the log file if your experience problems during silent installation.
      Note: When the --log flag is not specified, the log_info.log file defaults to the C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Temp\statsinstaller\statssub\ directory
    • Use the --help flag to view more information regarding supported flags and command syntax. The following flags are supported:

      -s, --silent Silently install IBM SPSS Statistics
      -p, --path Specify the product installation directory. The default path is C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\Subscription.
      -h, --help Display available option information.
      --log Assign a log file save location and file name.
      Note: When the --log flag is not specified, the log_info.log file defaults to the C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Temp\statsinstaller\statssub\ directory
      -l ACCEPTED, --license ACCEPTED This required setting accepts the product license in http://www-03.ibm.com/software/sla/sladb.nsf/sla/sd-7669-03.
      -f, --file Load the configuration property file. For more information, see Configuration property file.
      -u, --uninstall Uninstall the current IBM SPSS Statistics version.
      --auto, --autoupdate Enable automatic product updates. When set to YES, new product versions are automatically checked for; when set to NO, the product is not automatically updated.

macOS silent installation instructions

  1. Open a terminal session and mount the disk image. For example:
    hdiutil attach {user_download_path}/StatisticsSub_Installer.dmg
  2. Use the following command to navigate to the installer folder:
    cd /Volumes/StatisticsSub_Installer/StatisticsSub_Installer.app/Contents/MacOS
  3. Run the following command for a silent installation:
    ./StatisticsSub_Installer -s -l ACCEPTED –p {InstallPath}
    • The -l ACCEPTED flag is required and indicates that you accept the license agreement.
    • The -s flag indicates a silent installation.
    • The installer uses the default installation path (/Applications/IBMSPSSStatistics/Subscription) when the -p flag is not used. You must enclose the installation path in quotation marks when the path includes space characters.
    • Use the --help flag to view more information regarding supported flags and command syntax. The following flags are supported:

macOS uninstallation instructions

  1. Drag the installation folder (by default, /Applications/IBMSPSSStatistics/Subscription) to the Trash.
  2. In the Home folder, browse to Library/Preferences.
  3. Drag com.ibm.spss.plist to the Trash. The file is also used by IBM SPSS Statistics on premises, IBM SPSS Statistics Student Version, and IBM SPSS Smartreader. Do not remove the file if any of these applications are still installed.
  4. In the Home folder, drag Library/Application Support/IBM/SPSS/Statistics/Subscription to the Trash.
  5. Empty the Trash.
