Track the movement of retention volumes offsite and onsite

With IBM Spectrum® Protect Version 8.1.10, you can copy data in retention sets to tape storage. When the retention set data is copied to tape, you can physically remove the tape volumes from their tape library and move them to offsite vaults for secure storage. By doing so, you can help to protect the tape volumes from onsite disasters and from ransomware attacks.

A tape volume that contains data for one or more retention sets is called a retention volume. You can use the Operations Center or the command line to track the offsite and onsite movement of these retention volumes.

You can use the MOVE RETMEDIA command to process all retention storage pools that contain volumes to be processed. You can specify specific retention storage pools by issuing the SET DRMRETENTIONSTGPOOL command. You can also display information about the movement of these volumes by using the QUERY RETMEDIA command.
