Operations Center updates

New features are available in IBM Spectrum® Protect Operations Center Version 8.1.10.

The following new features are available:
  • The data retention feature now supports copying retention sets to tape. Copying retention sets to tape and removing the tape volumes from the production environment protects the retained data with an air gap. For secure storage, tape volumes can be taken to an offsite vault, where the tape volumes are protected from onsite disasters. For long-term retention, offsite vaults typically provide optimal storage conditions through temperature and humidity controls. If tape volumes are taken to an offsite location, you can track the tape volumes by using a new action that is called Move Media.
  • The capability to monitor an IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server from the Operations Center. IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is a data protection and availability solution for virtual environments. When you connect the Operations Center to an IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server, you can view a new dashboard in the Operations Center that displays a high-level status summary for the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server. By using this new dashboard, you can view a summary of job activities for a selected time period, a summary of the current capacity and availability of vSnap servers, and a summary of service level agreement (SLA) policies.
  • The capability to back up an IBM Spectrum Protect server database to cloud object storage. To back up server database volumes to object storage, you must define a device class of type CLOUD by using the command-line interface. If a device class of type CLOUD is defined on the server, you can select the device class when you are backing up a server database in the Operations Center.
  • Improved access to message documentation. When a server message is displayed in the Operations Center, you can now hover over the message number to display documentation about the message. Depending on the message, this documentation might include a detailed explanation of the message and suggested actions that you can take to resolve errors. This new feature is available on Operations Center pages that display server messages, such as the Alerts page and the Active Tasks page. This new feature is also available for command output in the Command Builder.
