Selecting a second factor of authentication in IBM Security Verify

Select the second factor of authentication that you want to use when you log in to IBM Spectrum® Control. This task must be done by all IBM Spectrum Control users after multifactor authentication is enabled.

Before you begin

Identify the URL of your IBM Security Verify dashboard. This URL follows the format https://tenant.verify.ibm.com, where tenant is the name of the tenant that is associated with your organization, such as https://bankxyz.verify.ibm.com.
Tip: The URL for IBM Security Verify and your default password for logging in was provided to you in an email. The email is specified during IBM Spectrum Control user addition into IBM Security Verify. If you did not receive an email with that information, contact your IBM Spectrum Control administrator.

About this task

To prove your identity, multifactor authentication requires you to provide multiple pieces of information when you log in to IBM Spectrum Control. Multifactor authentication uses any combination of two or more methods, called factors, to authenticate your access.

IBM Security Verify is the cloud-based identity and access management (IAM) service that is used to provide a second factor of authentication to validate and verify your access. In IBM Security Verify, you must select the second factor that you want to use when you log in to IBM Spectrum Control.

Procedure

  1. Access IBM Security Verify by entering its URL in a web browser.
    For example:
    https://tenant.verify.ibm.com/

Where tenant is the name that is associated with your organization, such as https://bankxyz.verify.ibm.com.

Tip: If this is the first time that you are logging in to IBM Security Verify using IBM Spectrum Control user name, you might be prompted to change the default password that was provided to you. Change the password before you continue.
  2. On the right side of the menu bar, click the Profile menu icon and click Profile & settings.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. To choose an authentication method, click Add new method.
  5. Select the authentication method that you want to use for your second factor in IBM Spectrum Control and provide the requested information.
