Upgrading and migrating

Learn about the key tasks when you upgrade IBM Spectrum® Control.

Important: For IBM Spectrum Control installed on RHEL (x86-64): Spectrum Control version 5.4.11 is only supported on RHEL 8. Do not install or upgrade to IBM Spectrum Control 5.4.11 on RHEL 7 (all versions) or earlier as it leads to an unstable environment and loss of access.

Overview of upgrading steps and clickable images Preparing for an upgrade. Good planning helps you avoid delays and problems when you upgrade the product. Before you upgrade, you must back up the entire IBM Spectrum Control™ system. Select IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center or IBM Spectrum Control Server upgrade package that corresponds to the operating system on your system. Upgrade Db2 Upgrade IBM Spectrum Control.
Important:
  1. You can migrate IBM Spectrum Control version 5.4.10.2 or later from a source server to a target server running on Linux, AIX, or Windows operating systems. For more information, see Migrating IBM Spectrum Control server.
  2. You can upgrade the server operating system where IBM Spectrum Control version 5.4.10.2 or later is installed. For more information, see Upgrading the OS of an IBM Spectrum Control.
