Managing computer groups

Learn how to create and edit computer groups. Computer groups organize a set of computers that you can use to run scripts in your environment.

This section describes how to manage computer groups on the Computers groups page in the IBM RPA Control Center.

Before you begin

Your user needs permission to manage computer groups.
See the Checking user permissions topic to learn how to check your user permissions.

Procedure for creating a computer group

  1. Log in to IBM RPA Control Center.
  2. In the Define menu, click Computers.
  3. In the Define computers screen, click Computer groups > Create computer group tab.
  4. Complete the following fields:
    • In the Name field, enter the computer group's name.
    • Optional: From the Computers groups list, select the computer groups that you want to join this new one.
    • From the Computers list, select the computers.
  5. Click Create.

Procedure for editing a computer group

  1. Log in to IBM RPA Control Center.
  2. In the Define menu, click the Computers > Computer groups tab.
  3. Choose a computer group and click the vertical ellipsis button ⋮ > Edit.
  4. Fill in the fields according to step 4 in Procedure for creating a computer group.

Deleting computer groups

Before you delete a computer group, you must remove its reference from any IBM RPA resource.

Removing reference to computer groups in unattended bots

  1. Log in to IBM RPA Control Center.
  2. Click Projects.
  3. Click the project that contains the bot.
  4. On the bot that you want, click the vertical ellipsis button ⋮ > Edit.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Remove the computer group from the Computer group list, and save the changes.

Removing reference to computer groups in orchestration processes

  1. From the IBM RPA Control Center define menu, click the Workflows > Processes tab.
  2. On the process, click the vertical ellipsis button ⋮ > Edit.
  3. Click Next until you get to the Steps page.
  4. Remove the computer group to be deleted from all Steps that reference it.
  5. Save the changes.

Removing reference to computer groups in script brokers

  1. From the IBM RPA Control Center define menu, click Scripts.
  2. Select the script, then click the Broker tab.
  3. Remove the computer group to be deleted from the Computers group list, and save the changes.

After you remove all references to the computer group, use the following procedure to delete it:

  1. Log in to IBM RPA Control Center.
  2. In the Define menu, click the Computers > Computers group tab.
  3. Find the computer group, and click the vertical ellipsis button ⋮ > Delete.
