Update the product to a newer version

About this task

There are two primary methods to update the product:

Check for Updates method: This method uses an online repository. Updates that you install this way are cumulative and will update the product to the latest version regardless of the version that you are currently on.
Install New Software method: This method uses fix pack archives that you have downloaded. Updates that you install this way are not cumulative. To install the latest fix pack version, you must already be at the previous fix pack level. For example, to update to version 9.8.0.2, you must already be at version 9.8.0.1. A user may prefer this method if they are experiencing connection issues that are interfering with an update from the online repository using the Check for Updates method.

Click Help > Check for Updates.

If an update is available, follow the prompts to install it.

Click Help > Install New Software.

Click Add then click Archive to browse to the fix pack archive file that you have downloaded. Follow the steps of the wizard to install it.
