Specifying a path to your .PEM file

Specifying a file to use in your TLS destination is new to WinCollect 10. If you need to quickly change your certificate on various WinCollect 10 agents, you can easily replace the .PEM file and then restart your agent to apply the changes.

About this task

One use case for replacing the .PEM file is when you have a new certificate for your IBM® QRadar® appliance, and you now need to change all your agents to use the new file. Instead of manually copying and pasting the contents of the certificate into each destination, you can specify the location of the .PEM file and have the agent read the file instead.
Note: Before you begin, you must create and deploy a TLS Syslog log source that uses port 6514, and you must have your certificate file ready. For more information, see Configuring a TLS Syslog log source for QRadar.

Procedure

  1. Follow the steps to Add a new destination.
  2. From the Protocol drop-down list, select TLS.
  3. Copy your .PEM file to the /config directory on your agent.
  4. Specify @<Name_of_your_certificate>.PEM in the TLS certificate field.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Deploy your changes to add the new destination.
  7. Configure any existing sources to use the new TLS destination.
