What's new in IBM Process Mining 1.15.0

Learn about the new or changed features in IBM Process Mining 1.15.0.

IBM Process Mining NextGen

IBM Process Mining 1.15.0 brings the all-new NextGen engine for use. IBM Process Mining NextGen is based on a highly performant relational database, which allows for significantly larger volumes of data to be analyzed quicker. You can specify whether you want to use IBM Process Mining Legacy or IBM Process Mining NextGen engine when you create a new project by using a dedicated toggle.

For more information about IBM Process Mining NextGen, see the NextGen engine for IBM Process Mining and Changes in NextGen topics.

Following are some of the major changes introduced to IBM Process Mining exclusively by the NextGen engine:

Asynchronous computations

In IBM Process Mining NextGen, most algorithms are run asynchronously and most statistics and functions are preloaded before you open a project. This allows you to continue working while filters and other changes are being applied in the background.

Reduced processing time

In IBM Process Mining NextGen, the processing time is reduced because only statistics that are used often are computed while the algorithms are run. Unusual statistics are not computed unless you specifically request it.

Cockpits as configurable dashboards

In IBM Process Mining NextGen, Compare and Resource mapping sections are no longer available in the Assets page. Instead, they can be recreated in the Analytics page, which offers you the flexibility to edit, delete, and filter the outputs.

  • Compare cockpit can be recreated as the Compare dashboard template.
  • Resource mapping and all its views can be recreated as the Workforce Optimization dashboard template.

Widget optimization

In IBM Process Mining NextGen, some of the widgets that were supported by IBM Process Mining Legacy are no longer supported. The widgets that are no longer available can be recreated by using the elastic widgets feature.

For more information, see the Elastic widgets and Configuring elastic widgets style and Migrating legacy widgets topics.

Apply filter templates on widgets

In IBM Process Mining NextGen, apart from applying filters on the whole Analytics dashboard (all the widgets), you can now apply filter templates on each widget separately.
Filters applied on diagrams can be used independently. You can apply different filters on the model page and on analytics dashboards.

Case distinct function

In IBM Process Mining NextGen, case distinct function is no longer required because the product automatically recognizes the case level through the relational database.

Custom metrics in SQL

In IBM Process Mining NextGen, you can:

  • create custom metrics in SQL instead of JavaScript, as JavaScript is no longer supported.
  • group custom metrics by Case ID, Event, and Project.
  • create custom metrics directly form Analytics tab if the Dimensions option has a Case ID value.
  • apply conditions to calculate custom metrics only for certain cases.
  • use custom metrics as advanced filters.

For more information, see the Custom metrics topic.

Other NextGen improvements

  • Custom KPIs can now be saved and reused.

  • Projects snapshots are not created anymore.

Data Quality

This feature is available in both IBM Process Mining Legacy and IBM Process Mining NextGen.

The new Data Quality page in Manage tab helps you to assess the quality of your process mining data. Data quality is expressed in terms of three parameters and using three levels of ratings: Good, Warning, and Bad. Depending on the rating, you can take appropriate actions to improve the data quality and thereby improve the results of the analysis.

For more information, see the Data quality topic.

Dashboard templates

This feature is available in both IBM Process Mining Legacy and IBM Process Mining NextGen.

IBM Process Mining offers you prebuilt dashboard templates in Analytics. These templates consists of presets of widgets based on different themes of analysis. For example, the History and trends dashboard template includes widgets to focus on analyzing historical volumes and performances, from a time and resource allocation perspective.

For more information, see the Configuring dashboards topic.

JavaScript in Elastic widgets

This feature is available in both IBM Process Mining Legacy and IBM Process Mining NextGen.

You can configure elastic widgets by using JavaScript code. You can also configure the widget in Basic mode first and then switch to Advanced mode to further modify the configuration using JavaScript.

For more information, see the Elastic widgets topic.

Visibility of attributes and filters

This feature is available in both IBM Process Mining Legacy and IBM Process Mining NextGen.

You can see the values for attributes and filters with a cardinality smaller than the threshold. You can set this threshold by yourself in the Attributes management page in the Manage tab.

SAP Procure-to-Pay process app removal

SAP P2P process app is not available in IBM Process Mining 1.15.0.

Language support

Starting from release 1.15.0, IBM Process Mining removes support for the following languages:

  • Portuguese-Portugal (pt)
  • Swedish (sv)
  • Danish (da)
  • Finnish (fi)
