Restoring profile data

Learn how to read the profile data from the previously backed-up file on the Hardware Management Console (HMC), and load this data to the managed system.

Selecting this menu item restores profile data to the HMC from a backup file stored on the HMC hard drive.

Note: This is not a concurrent procedure. To restore profile data, the managed system must be in a partition standby or operating state. After the data is restored, the managed system powers on to the partition standby state.

To restore stored profile data on the HMC hard drive, you must be a member of one of the following roles:

  • Super administrator
  • Service representative
To restore profile data, choose one of the following navigation options. The option that you choose depends on the interface type of the HMC:
  • If you are using an HMC Classic or HMC Enhanced interface, complete the following steps:
    1. In the navigation area, click Systems Management > Servers.
    2. In the content pane, select the required managed system.
    3. Click Tasks > Configuration > Manage Partition Data > Restore.
    4. From the list of backup files, select the profile information that you want to restore.
    5. Select a restore option.
    6. Click OK.
  • If you are using an HMC Enhanced+ interface, complete the following steps:
    1. In the navigation area, click the Resources icon Resources, and then click All Systems.
    2. In the content pane, select the system name that contains the partition.
    3. In the navigation area, click System Actions > Legacy > Restore.
    4. From the list of backup files, select the profile information that you want to restore.
    5. Select a restore option.
    6. Click OK.
