Customize sets in dimension lists

Use the Customize sets option in a new experience view (exploration or visualization) to select the sets that display in a dimension list. You can select up to 20 sets for a dimension.

Note: The Customize sets option does not limit the sets that you see in the set editor. You can still see the full list of sets in the set editor.

Customizing sets for dimensions in explorations

To select the sets that display in a dimension list in an exploration:

  1. Click the menu next to a dimension in the Row or Column area.
Note: You cannot customize sets for dimensions that are in the Context area.

  2. In the Customize sets window, select the sets that you want in the dimension list from the Available sets pane. As you select the sets, they appear under the Selected sets pane.

You can also search for sets and select them one by one or click Select all.

  3. Click Apply.

Now, when you click on the dimension in the view, you see only the sets you selected.

You can move dimensions with customized sets between the Row, Column, and Context areas without losing the limited sets.

However, if you move a dimension with customized sets off the exploration and add it to the book as a widget, the limited list of sets is lost. You will see all the sets for that dimension in its drop-down.

Customizing sets for dimensions in visualizations

You can also customize sets for dimensions in visualizations:
  1. Click anywhere on the visualization in Edit mode and click Fields.
  2. Click the menu next to the dimension that you want to customize and select Customize sets.

  3. In the Customize sets window, select the sets that you want in the dimension list from the Available sets pane. As you select the sets, they appear under the Selected sets pane.

You can also search for sets and select them one by one or click Select all.

  4. Click Apply.

Now, when you click on the dimension in the field slot under Fields, you see only the sets you selected.

You can switch between a visualization and an exploration (or vice versa) without losing any customized sets that you applied.
