Modify connection configuration for multiple processes that use ODBC data sources

Each process with an ODBC data source includes the declaration of the ODBC connection, username, and password as part of the data source connection configuration. When your database contains multiple processes that use the same data source connection configuration, it can be laborious to update each process individually when the connection configuration changes. Use the connection manager to modify the ODBC connections for multiple processes simultaneously.

About this task

The connection manager is available only on the modeling workbench. You can't use the connection manager in a modeling book.

Procedure

  1. To open the connection manager, click the Actions button Actions button on the Process node in the Databases tree, then click ODBC settings.
    ODBC settings option
  2. In the connection manager, select the processes for which you want to modify connection configuration.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Select the connection parameters you want to change and specify new parameter values.
You can modify any combination of Database connection name (connection type), Username, and Password.

You can remove a username or password from a connection by selecting the Change username or Change password options and leaving the parameter value empty.

  5. Click Apply.

Results

After you apply the connection changes, the modified connection configuration is applied and saved to each of the processes you selected.

A status message informs you of the success or failure of the connection configuration update. If the update is not successful for all processes, you'll see a list of the processes that were not updated.
