Applying minor updates on the next-generation platform

Minor updates are packaged as images on the IBM® Docker registry. To apply the updates to your runtime environments, use the Self Service to download and deploy these images. The base image contains all the minor updates that are released until date.

Procedure

To update an environment with the most recent minor update, complete the following steps:

  1. Access the Self Service with your IBMid.
  2. From the Self Service menu, click Environments.
  3. From the list of environments, select an environment.
  4. In the Customizations tab, click Packages.
  5. Choose any of the following methods to upgrade to the most recent minor version.
    • Method 1: Click Upgrade from the notification banner that indicates that your environment is on an outdated version. The Deploy customization window opens with the current Sterling Order Management System customization extension preselected.
      Note: Notification banner is not displayed if your environment is already on a most recent minor version.
    • Method 2: Click the Deploy button on an OMS customization extension row in the table. By using this method, you can deploy the selected OMS customization package and upgrade the base Sterling Order Management System version from the given options, at the same time.
      Note: If you clicked Deploy for a Call Center or next-generation Order Hub customization extension, you cannot perform a minor upgrade.

    In both methods, the Select customization extension drop-down list is disabled for modification, hence you cannot choose any other customization extension over the preselected value.

    The following table helps you understand the options that you can use to deploy and upgrade IBM Sterling Order Management System, IBM Sterling Store Engagement, and IBM Sterling Call Center.

  6. Select the base OMS version that you want to upgrade your environment to.
  7. Optional: Select the Schedule deployment to a future start time and date checkbox, if you want to schedule the deployment of the customization for later.

    You can view the status of the deployment under the Deployments tab and the Processes tab.

    You can view the version of the minor update that is installed in an environment under the Environments tab.
