Configuring servers on the next-generation platform

Users with the Developer role can configure agent or integration servers by using Self Service. Toggle the switch to enable or disable automatic refresh. The Server configuration page is refreshed every 30 seconds when the toggle is switched to the on position.

Procedure

  1. Access Self Service with your IBMid.
  2. Click Server configuration.
    • The CPU allocation and Memory allocation bars shows the percentage of the allocated computing resources.
      Note:
      • Intermittently monitor the resource allocation bars. When the percentage of resource usage is high, a warning icon is shown. You can clean up resources by removing failed and unused servers and consolidating servers into a multi-function one.
      • The performance of the existing running servers is not affected when you see a warning on the allocation bars. However, it prevents you from starting new servers for which you can either run the servers consolidated or tune the number of instances for the allocated capacity.
    • Click the About resource allocation tooltip to know about guidelines on resource consumption when servers are created.
  3. Click Configure.
  4. Select the server type as Agent or Integration server.
  5. Select the server name.
  6. The performance profile is automatically set to Balanced for development and test environments. For nonproduction and production environments, you can select alternative profiles including Memory and Compute.
    Profile Description
Balanced Balanced of computation and memory power.
Compute Optimize server execution based on memory allocation requirement.
Memory Optimize server execution based on computation power.
Important: From June 2024, all new agent and integration servers that are created in development and test environments are set to use the Balanced performance profile automatically. This maximizes the amount of server instances that you can create in your environment. The other performance profiles are reserved for the preproduction and production environments only to support high-volume use cases. For more information, contact IBM Support.
  7. In the Default number of instances to start field, specify the number of server instances that you want to start by default.
  8. Optional: Enter a brief description of the server.
  9. Click Submit. The server is configured on the environment and is added to the Server configuration tab that can be used to start, stop, or trigger the selected server.
Important: If you modify the server configuration, you must restart the server to update the server with the latest changes.
