Scheduling server processes on the next-generation platform

Users with the Developer role can set schedules to trigger an agent server criteria or to start and stop an agent or integration server from the Server configuration tab at a specific time once or repeatedly.

About this task

You can set the schedule to be daily or weekly. When you configure the schedule to be daily, you can select the time of the day to run the process. When you configure the schedule to be weekly, you can select the day of the week, and the time of the day to run the process.

You can perform the following actions for the scheduled servers. You must select a process to perform any action for the process that is listed in the Schedule servers page.
Table 1. Actions for scheduled servers
Action Description
New You can schedule a start and stop process for the agent or integration server or can trigger an agent server.
Edit You can edit a scheduled process. Select a process that you need to update. You can update all the details except for the process name.
Suspend You can suspend an active process.
Resume You can resume a suspended process.
Delete You can delete any scheduled process. If the server instances are started and then the schedule is deleted, the instances keep running and are not stopped until you stop them manually.

Procedure

To schedule server processes, complete the following steps:

  1. Access Self Service with your IBMid.
  2. From the Self Service menu, click Environments.
  3. From the list of environments, select an environment.
  4. Go to the Server configuration tab.
  5. Click Server processes and select Schedule servers.
  6. Click New.
  7. If you select Trigger agent server, enter the Agent criteria ID.
  8. If you select Start and Stop servers, select the Server name.
    • You can select the Enable verboseGC output option for diagnosing issues, if any.

After this option is enabled, you can trigger the Export application logs process in the Processes tab for the selected agent or integration server. You can then download the exported logs from the process report. For more information, see Self Service processes for the next-generation platform.

Note: If you want to disable the option for generating the verbose GC logs for a server, you must stop the server.
    • When you select one server, the Number of instances to start option is displayed. Specify the number of instances that you want to start. By default, one instance of the selected server is started.

When you select multiple servers, only one instance of each server is started.

  9. In the Schedule section, set the frequency and the start time of the process.

The scheduled time is scheduled in the Coordinated Universal Time.

If you select the Start and stop servers process, the Duration field is displayed. Set the duration in hours. The maximum duration can be 24 hours. The number of server instances that are started at the scheduled time are then stopped after the specified duration.

  10. Click Submit.
