Using the Rule Definitions for All CICSplexes subpanel
The Rule Definitions for All CICSplexes subpanel displays classification rules that OMEGAMON AI for CICS uses to group CICS® regions into CICSplexes.
You can use the subpanel to define the rules for a new CICSplex and to update or delete an existing set of rules. The rules are listed in descending priority order with the default OMEGPLEX rule definition displayed last.
Working with the subpanel
When you use the Rule Definitions for All CICSPlexes subpanel to define a new rule definition, you are automatically presented with a new panel (KCPPLXA) on which the name of the new CICSplex and the rules that will determine membership to it can be entered. You can also add, delete, or update agent preferences outside of the rule definition process.
A CICS region is classified into a CICSplex using definitions in OMEGAMON AI for CICS or can be derived from CICSPlex® Systems Manager (CPSM). If the definitions in OMEGAMON AI for CICS indicate that a CICS region is to be classified into the default OMEGPLEX CICSplex, and there is a CPSM CICSplex name associated with the CICS region, it is used to classify the region in OMEGAMON®. The default CICSplex definition, OMEGPLEX, is provided by OMEGAMON AI for CICS; this allows the CPSM rules to be leveraged without any further action. The enhanced 3270UI cannot be used to modify or establish CPSM definitions.
CICS regions become part of a CICSplex based on classification rules that specify the value of region attributes, for example, job name or VTAM® APPLID. The CICS region is assigned to a CICSplex when the attributes match the rules definition. When you create your classification rules they are assigned an order of evaluation. CICS regions are compared to the existing classification rules and assigned to the first CICSplex with a matching rule. Multiple rules can be defined for one CICSplex. The default rule assigns regions to the CICSplex OMEGPLEX; it has the lowest order of evaluation and is assigned to CICS regions that do not match any preexisting rules.
The CICSplexes that have CICS regions assigned are displayed in the enhanced 3270UI and in the Tivoli Enterprise Portal. The CICSplexes are displayed as nodes on the Physical Navigator of the Tivoli Enterprise Portal and the CICSplex information is displayed on the CICSplex Summary workspace. The enhanced 3270UI provides CICSplex summary panels and detail panels for various problem solving scenarios.
