Installing product components

You install Operational Decision Manager by using IBM® Installation Manager. The tool takes you through the required steps for your installation.

You can use one of three Installation Manager modes to install product components:
Wizard mode
Provides a graphical user interface that guides you through the installation steps. This mode is particularly useful for local installations.
Silent mode

Records your installation preferences in a response file that you can then use to install your components and features to multiple workstations.

Console mode
Provides a text-based installation experience for users who do not have a graphical display. The steps and choices are the same in console mode as for the wizard and silent modes. See the Console mode topics in the Installation Manager documentation.

This installation guide covers the methods for the wizard and silent modes.

Important: Installation Manager manages the contents of the shared resources directory. You must not edit or modify any files in the Installation Manager directory, and you cannot change the directory location until you uninstall all packages installed with Installation Manager.

Installation Manager logs

If you encounter problems during installation, retrieve the logs in Installation Manager by selecting File > View log. See Finding IBM Installation Manager troubleshooting logs for more information about the installation logs.
