URL redirects

This section contains details and instructions for configuring URL redirects over HTTP or HTTPS in the IBM® NS1 Connect® platform, as well as managing SSL/TLS certificates for secure data transfer.

Note: The URL redirects feature is available only to accounts with the Premium plan.

URL redirection (or URL forwarding) is a method that is used to send requesting clients to a different URL than the one they requested. For example, if you are relocating a web page to a new URL, you can configure a redirect to direct traffic to the new location.

On the NS1 Connect platform, you can configure a redirect from a source URL corresponding to one of your existing DNS zones to a defined target. During the configuration process, you define the forwarding type, path forwarding mode, and HTTP protocol to use when redirecting incoming queries.

Note: The REDIRECT record type replaces the previous URLFWD record type. The new record type supports redirects over HTTPS. URLFWD records will be deprecated soon. As such, you are encouraged to reconfigure redirects by using the new configuration tools and record type and remove the old URLFWD records from their zones.
