Testing an alert

To make sure that stakeholders or systems can receive an alert, you can send a test alert.

Before you begin

  • Make sure that the contact details of the stakeholder or system are correct in the notifier list.
  • Make sure that you have the permissions and features for the type of alert that you want to edit. Refer to Create an alert for details about the permissions that you need.
  • You can only test alerts that have notifier lists that were manually created. Alerts with automatically generated notifier lists such as __NS1__.notify_list.# cannot be tested.

About this task

IBM NS1 Connect® sends a test notification to all stakeholders or systems that are in the notifier lists that are attached to the alert.

Procedure

  1. Click Alerts.
  2. Locate the alert that you want to test.
    To locate an alert, you can use the Search feature. You can also click the Open filters icon to narrow the list by the alert type or event type, by notifier list, or by the date that the alert was created.
  3. Expand the row of an alert.
  4. Click Test alert.
  5. Verify that the stakeholders or systems in the notifier list received the notification.

What to do next

If you receive an error, make sure that the contact information of the stakeholder or system in the notifier list that is attached to the alert is correct. Then, test the alert again.
