Uninstalling fix packs

You can uninstall a previously installed fixpack. This is known as rolling back to a previous version.

About this task

If you are running Network Manager in a virtual machine, restore the snapshot that you took before upgrading to the current fix pack, instead of uninstalling the fix pack manually.

IBM Installation Manager stores installation files in its data location. These files are used to roll back to a previous version.

If you have deleted necessary rollback files, refer to the information about rolling back and entitlement in the IBM Installation Manager documentation at: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSDV2W/im_family_welcome.html

Important: Network Manager Fix Pack 6 does not include the Management Information Base (MIB files). The MIBs are required for network discovery.
To uninstall Fix Pack 6 and use a previous version, complete the following steps:
  1. If you made domain-specific configuration files, compare them to the default files after rolling back and manually undo any changes as required. For example, the default ModelNcimDb.cfg file is changed when the NCIM database schema is changed.
  2. Copy the MIB files from the following directory to a temporary directory: $NCHOME/precision/mibs/
  3. Delete all the files in the $NCHOME/precision/mibs directory.
  4. Uninstall Network Manager Fix Pack 6 using the instructions below.
  5. If you are rolling back to 4.2 Fix Pack 5, copy the MIB files back from the temporary directory to the MIB directory: $NCHOME/precision/mibs/
  6. If you are rolling back to a version prior to 4.2 Fix Pack 5, copy the MIB files back from the backup directory /old_mibs/ to the MIB directory: $NCHOME/precision/mibs/
  7. Run the ncp_mib command, as described in: Loading updated MIB information

To uninstall a fix pack manually, perform the following steps:

To use command line, silent, console, or web browser mode, refer to the information on Managing installations with Installation Manager in the IBM Installation Manager documentation at: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSDV2W/im_family_welcome.html. Not all products and components support all installation modes.
