Advice for error messages

Descriptions of the most frequent error messages in the log files for the server components and the Web GUI that are logged in Problem Management Reports (PMRs). The information here includes sample error messages and advice about how to react to the messages. Messages are logged to various Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus component log files, including ObjectServer, gateway, and probe log files.

The following table lists the types of messages that are logged by Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus applications.
Table 1. Message types
Message type Example message code
Debug D-ETC-004-051
Error E-IVM-005-001
Fatal F-IVM-005-001
Information I-GOB-104-027
Warning W-STO-103-001

Depending on the application, the logging level for messages is specified by a MessageLevel property or -messagelevel command-line option (or both). The message level that you specify determines which types of messages are logged. The debug level is the most verbose and can result in large log files. The typical default level is warn.
