Removing the Web GUI

Use IBM® Installation Manager to remove the Web GUI.

Before you begin

Take the following actions:
  • Stop all running Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus processes.
  • Back up any data or configuration files that were created since the original installation and that you want to retain.
  • To do a silent removal, create or record an Installation Manager response file. Use the -record response_file option. For example:
    1. Create or record a skipInstall:
      IBMIM.exe -record C:\response_files\install_1.xml -skipInstall C:\Temp\skipInstall
    2. To create uninstall response file, using the created skipInstall:
      IBMIM.exe -record C:\response_files\uninstall_1.xml -skipInstall C:\Temp\skipInstall

Procedure

GUI removal

  1. To remove the Web GUI with the Installation Manager GUI:
    1. Change to the /eclipse subdirectory of the Installation Manager installation directory.
    2. Use the following command to start the Installation Manager wizard:
      • For UNIX operating systemFor Linux operating system./IBMIM
      • For Windows operating systemIBMIM.exe
    3. In the main Installation Manager window, click Uninstall.
    4. Select the offerings that you want to remove and follow the installation wizard instructions to complete the removal.

Console removal

  1. To remove the Web GUI component with the Installation Manager console:
    1. Change to the /eclipse/tools subdirectory of the Installation Manager installation directory.
    2. Use the following command to start Installation Manager:
      • For UNIX operating systemFor Linux operating system./imcl -c
      • For Windows operating systemimcl.exe -c
    3. From the Main Menu, select Uninstall.
    4. Select the offerings that you want to remove and follow the Installation Manager instructions to complete the removal.

Silent removal

  1. To silently remove the Web GUI:
    1. Change to the /eclipse/tools subdirectory of the Installation Manager installation directory.
    2. Use the following command to start the removal:
      • For UNIX operating systemFor Linux operating system./imcl -input response_file -silent -log /tmp/install_log.xml -acceptLicense
      • For Windows operating systemimcl.exe -input response_file -silent -log \Temp\install_log.xml -acceptLicense
      Where response_file is the directory path to the response file that defines the removal configuration.

Results

Installation Manager removes the files and directories that it installed.

What to do next

  • Files that Installation Manager did not install, and configuration files that were changed, are left in place. Review these files and remove them or back them up as appropriate.
