Master data management (MDM) report
Manage your data across your enterprise with the help of master data management (MDM) reports. By using MDM reports, you can gain an insight into business performance by measuring and analyzing your organization's key material master entities.
Note: The validation of material descriptions is only available for English content.
MDM reports overview
Five master data management reports are available to you:
- Data completeness
- Data conformity
- Data consistency
- Data duplicates
- Overall data quality
Data completeness
The data completeness report provides you with a measure of material master data available for a
specific SKU. You can view the following information:
- Short description completeness
- For each record, a score is generated based on the length of the material description. The total description completeness score is an average of these individual record scores. You can also see how the material descriptions range in completeness.
- Manufacturer (MFR) completeness
- For each record, a score is generated based on the presence or absence of manufacturer data. The total MFR completeness score is an average of these individual record scores. You can also see how the MFR data ranges in completeness.
- Manufacturer part number (MPN) completeness
- For each record, a score is generated based on the presence or absence of manufacturer part number data. The total MPN completeness score is an average of these individual record scores. You can also see how MPN Data ranges in completeness.
- Overall completeness
- The average score of completeness across material description completeness, MFR data completeness, and MPN data completeness.
- Overall completeness range
- Materials are ranked low, medium, or high, determined by their overall completeness score. Select a range to learn more about the completeness scores of the materials within that range.
Data conformity
The data conformity report measures compliance in the material master records with the usage of
industry standards and naming conventions according to the IBM Parts Dictionary. You can view the
following information:
- UOM conformity in the material description
- The assigned score based on the presence or absence of a characteristic unit of measure in the material description.
- Noun conformity
- The assigned score based on the presence or absence of nouns in the material description.
- Modifier conformity
- The assigned score based on the presence or absence of modifiers in the material description.
- Attribute conformity
- The assigned score based on the presence or absence of modifiers in the material description.
- Standards conformity
- The assigned score based on the presence or absence of size, material, and ISO standards in the material description.
- Overall conformity score
- The weighted sum of all data conformity measure scores.
- Overall conformity range
- The chart shows how many materials rank from low conformity to high conformity. Select a range to learn more about the conformity scores of the materials within that range.
Data consistency
The data consistency report measures the consistent usage of abbreviations, standard terms,
formats, and naming conventions in the material master records according to the IBM Parts
Dictionary. You can view the following information:
- UOM consistency in the material description
- A score is assigned if the use of characteristic units of measure in the material description is consistent with other similar material descriptions.
- Noun consistency
- A score is assigned if the material description contains abbreviated nouns according to the IBM Parts Dictionary.
- Modifier consistency
- A score is assigned if the material description contains abbreviated modifiers according to the IBM Parts Dictionary.
- Attribute consistency
- A score is assigned if defined attributes in the material description are consistent with other similar material descriptions.
- Standards consistency
- A score is assigned if the use of size, material, and ISO standards in the material description is consistent with other similar material descriptions.
- Overall consistency score
- The weighted sum of all data consistency measure scores.
- Overall data consistency
- The chart shows how many materials rank from low consistency to high consistency. Select a range to learn more about the consistency scores of the materials within that range.
Data duplicates
The data duplicates report shows whether potential duplicate records exist. You can view the
following information:
- Duplicates based on material description, part number, and manufacturer name
- Indicates how many records contain the same material description, MPN data, and MFR data.
- Duplicates based on part number and manufacturer name
- Indicates how many records contain the same MPN data and MFR data.
- Duplicates based on material description and part number
- Indicates how many records contain the same material description and MPN data.
- Duplicates based on part number
- Indicates how many records contain the same MPN data.
- Duplicates based on material description
- Indicates how many records contain the same material description.
Overall data quality
The overall data quality report shows the overall health of your master data. The report provides
you with an average quality score for completeness, consistency, and conformity measures. You can
view the following information for each measure:
- Overall score
- The average score across the parameters of your selected measure.
- High category
- The percentage of records that have a high data quality rating.
- Medium category
- The percentage of records that have a medium data quality rating.
- Low category
- The percentage of records that have a low data quality rating.
