Graphical Scheduling application
Use the Graphical Scheduling application to manage and schedule tasks for a Change. You can launch to this application directly from a Change that you are scheduling. You can also open the application from the Go To menu ( ). After you create a schedule in the Graphical Scheduling application, you can use the Gantt view to manage the schedule graphically.
The Graphical Scheduling application displays information about resource constraints to ensure that your work is scheduled properly. You can apply the critical path method (CPM) to automatically schedule tasks taking these resource constraints into account.
To view a list of schedules that have been created and saved in the application, place the cursor in the Schedule field, and press Enter. Use the search and query capabilities to limit your list as needed. After you open a record, you can click View Record List to return to the list of records.
Tabs are displayed when a record is open; the tabs enable you to work with the selected record.
- Schedule
- Use this tab to create a new Graphical Scheduling project and to view basic details about an existing schedule project that you have selected in list of schedules. For a new schedule, you use the Schedule tab to assign a name for the schedule, specify a query that identifies the work order or work orders that are associated with this schedule, and supply other schedule definitions.
- Gantt View
- Use this tab to view, in graphical format, the tasks that you are scheduling and to
identify conflicts that might arise from any of a variety of resource constraints that affect the
tasks. Resource constraints include Change Windows, blackout periods, and other tasks that are
affect a target or impacted CI; resource constraints also include task owner availability and
predecessor tasks.
In the Gantt chart, you view the work order tasks that are being scheduled, along with icons that indicate when the tasks are currently scheduled. You can also reschedule work so that resources are not overloaded or under used; compare various work schedules by creating different scenarios; and modify the schedule using graphical tools.
The Resource Constraints tab lists all of the resource constraints that might apply to the work order record or records that you are scheduling. You can view details of each constraint, and identify which constraint or constraint might be preventing a task from being scheduled.
