Setting preventive maintenance counters

If you have the appropriate access, you can reset the preventive maintenance (PM) counter. You might reset the PM counter if you want the PM to use a different job plan than the one that is scheduled to be next.

Procedure

  1. In the Preventive Maintenance application, select the PM record whose counter you want to reset.
Tip: You can view the current job plan sequence by selecting the View Sequence action from the Select Action menu. You can view the current counter setting on the PM tab.
  2. Select the Set PM Counter action.
  3. In the New PM Counter field, type a value.
  4. Click OK to close the window and return to the PM tab.
  5. Click Save PM.

Example: Preventive maintenance counters for a turbine

You have the following job plan sequence on a PM. The Counter value is 3. The next work order generated from the PM uses the job plan associated with sequence 4. You decide to repeat job plan sequence 1 rather than run job sequence 4, so you change the Counter value to 2. The job plan with sequence 1 is implemented next and job sequence 4 is postponed:
Table 1. Example of PM counters for turbine inspections
Job Plan Description Sequence
INS-TURB Inspect turbine 1
INS-TURBCOMP Inspect turbine components 4
INS-TURBFEED Inspect turbine and feeder system 12
