Integrations

Outbound continuous queues
Message processing now includes outbound continuous processing. You can select JMS or Kafka outbound continuous queue processing when you configure an external system in addition to the three existing types of message queue processing. For more information, see Integration framework.
Read/write access for Migration Manager folders
Three Migration Manager folders with read/write access for users are created by default for all Maximo Manage pods. For more information see Read/write access for Migration Manager folders.

Technical updates

Using PodMonitors
You do not have to configure PodMonitors anymore. By default, two Pod Monitors are created with Maximo Manage deployment. For more information, see Using PodMonitors for Maximo Manage.
Warning framework for automation scripting
The warning framework checks the automation script based on the regular expression, validator, or both to identify whether the automation script might result in an unexpected output or adversely affect system performance. It also suggests the possible workaround to implement in the automation script. For more information, see Warning framework for automation scripts.
Rolling back operator version
From Maximo Manage 8.7 and later, if you upgrade or update Maximo Application Suite, it is possible to roll back Maximo Manage to a previous version, through version properties. For more information, see Rolling back operator version in Maximo Manage.

New and enhanced applications

Work queue manager
Work queue manager is a new application that is a part of the Administration module in Maximo Manage. The Create work queue functions makes it possible to define a work queue with a query and optionally, associate actions to it. The Work queues page lists all created work queues.
Work orders application
The Work orders application has the following enhancements:
  • Map tab
  • Communication log
  • Classification editing

Dashboard enhancements

New Dispatching dashboard
  • The new Dispatching dashboard has several tiles with data to help you monitor, analyze, and manage your schedules with assignments. The Schedule tile has high-level information about schedules that you add to the dashboard. The KPI metric tiles have metric information that reflects your schedules, which include information about assignments, total resources, emergencies, and resource utilization.
  • In the list of schedules, see the optimization status for each schedule. If the optimization process ran for a schedule, then the schedule has an optimization status of PROCESSED. Click the PROCESSED status to see the optimization report. If the optimization status is not yet PROCESSED for a schedule, click the schedule, and from the Actions menu select Optimize scheduleto run optimization.
  • For more information, see Dispatching dashboard.
Work record details card for resource leveling within the Scheduling dashboard
In the Scheduling dashboard, within the Resource leveling tab, click a work record and a work record details card displays. The work record details card displays details for that work record. In the card, you can change entries for the following types of work record details.
  • Priority
  • Duration
  • Scheduled start
  • Start no earlier than
Operational dashboard enhancements
In the Operational dashboard, the Edit icon provides you with the functions to modify the page according to your requirements. You can add and edit cards by using the Card Gallery and select the KPIs that you want to see. The operational dashboard includes:
  • An integrated Maximo Manage and Maximo Health KPI tile
  • KPI comparison tile
  • Work queue tile
  • Builder capability

IBM Maximo Optimizer

Integration with the new Dispatching dashboard
Maximo Optimizer includes an integration with the new Dispatching dashboard. The optimization models for Graphical Assignment provide the following optimizations in the new Dispatching dashboard:
  • Optimizes your assigned schedule to automatically assign people and crews to work based on their availability, required skills, and geographic location.
  • Detects and reports infeasible work records and generates a partial schedule, which minimizes unscheduled work.
  • Accelerates travel time computations with use of latitude-based computations and longitude-based computations.
For more information, see Optimizing schedules.
What-if analysis function
To better understand the dynamics of various work orders and the impact on turnaround times, some optimization models use the new what-if analysis function. With the what-if analysis function, the planner can see which work orders have the most impact to change from the base scenario, or keep at the base scenario. For more information, see IBM® Maximo® Optimizer optimization models.

New add-on

Reliability Strategies
In Reliability Strategies, you can access a library of asset-specific failure details and mitigation activities. The library is developed by industry and domain experts and contains hundreds of assets and tens of thousands of possible failures across all known operating contexts.
In a strategy, you can review details for failures that can occur for the specified asset. You can explore mitigation activities and compare the effectiveness of each activity at finding the problem before a failure occurs. You can copy the details for the activities into your preventive maintenance and job plans. For more information, see Reliability Strategies.

Before you begin using Reliability Strategies, you must create an end point, configure a route, and add users to the RELIABILITYSTRATEGIES security group. For more information, see Configuring Reliability Strategies.

IBM Maximo IT

IBM Maximo IT is now available in Maximo Application Suite. Maximo IT provides a single point of user support and enterprise service management of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) assets and processes.

For more information, see Maximo IT.

You can deploy and activate Maximo IT as an add-on to Maximo Manage after you deploy Maximo Manage.

User assistance improvements

Introducing assets video and user interface tour
Watch an overview video on assets that describes what an asset is used for, the information that you can maintain in an asset, and the common tasks that you can perform on an asset. You can also take a tour on creating an asset from the Maximo Manage user interface For more information, see Assets module.
