To customize shifts for your business needs, you can specify shift breaks.
Before you begin
After you create a shift, specify a shift pattern. Then, set up shift breaks to reflect the
actual availability of your labor and crews for each shift.
Procedure
- In the Calendars application, select the calendar for which you want to apply a
shift.
- From the Actions menu, select Define/Apply
Shifts.
- In the Define/Apply Shifts window, ensure that shifts and shift
patterns are defined for the calendar.
- In the Shift table, select the shift that you want to define shift
breaks for.
- In the Shift Pattern table, select the shift pattern that you want
to define shift breaks for.
- In the Shift Breaks table, click New
Row.
- In the Break field, click Select Value and
choose the kind of shift break that you want to create.
- Specify the start time and end time for shift break.
- From the Actions menu, select one of the following
options.
Option |
Description |
Apply Breaks |
Applies the shift break to all patterns in the shift. Labor and crew availability is not
modified. |
Clear Breaks |
Clears all shift breaks from all patterns in the shift. Labor and crew availability is
updated to reflect the changes. |
Apply Work Breaks |
Modifies the availability of all labor and crews that are assigned to the shift. Labor/crews
appear unavailable during the specified shift break for every instance of the defined
calendar/shift/pattern day. |
Clear Work Breaks |
Updates the availability of all labor and crews that are assigned to the shift. The shift
breaks remain in place in the Calendar application, but modified availability records are cleared
for all labor and crews assigned to the shift. |
