Security group templates are provided to authorize users to access Work Centers and
Tools and Tasks. When you apply a security group template, members of the group are authorized to
access the default applications for the Work Center or Tool. If you want to modify the default
authorizations, you duplicate a security group template to create a user-defined
template.
Procedure
-
In the Security Groups application, create a group and name it.
-
On the Sites tab, authorize the group to access all sites or specify
individual sites.
-
On the Applications tab, define a security group for a Work Center or
Tool:
-
In the Application Type column, filter for either Work Center or Tools
and Tasks.
-
Select a record and, in the Options section, select Grant Access.
-
Click Manage/Apply Template and, in the Add/Modify
Authorization Template window, click Duplicate Template to create
a user-defined template or click Apply Template to create a group based on
the predefined authorization settings.
- Optional:
Click Add/Modify Signature Options to set signature options at the level
of the work center or tool.
- Optional:
Click Object Structure Authorizations to specify access to data at the
level of the work center or tool.
-
On the Object Structures tab, specify access to data at the security
group level:
-
Select the MXAPIPERUSER object structure and grant access to Read and Save
authorizations.
This authorization is required to authenticate to the user interface for the Work Center or
Tool.
- Optional:
Grant access to any other object structures that you want members of the security group to have
access to.
This authorization is necessary if you want to enable access to data from external
applications.
-
Authorize the storerooms, labor, general ledger components and limits and tolerances for
members of the security group.
-
On the Data Restrictions tab, you can restrict access to objects,
attributes, and collections.
-
On the Users tab, add users to the group.
