Starting the server

To start the License Metric Tool server, run the srvstart.sh or srvstart.bat script.

To start the server, run the srvstart.sh script.

Before you begin

You must be a user who installed License Metric Tool or has root privileges to perform this task.
Note: 9.2.36 Starting from application update 9.2.36, systemd is used instead of init.d for starting and stopping the server.

Procedure

  1. Optional: Check whether your DB2® instance is running.
    1. Log in to the computer where DB2 is installed as a DB2 instance owner.
    2. Type db2start in the command line.
  2. Go to the License Metric Tool installation directory, by default /opt/ibm/LMT.
  3. Open the cli folder and run the srvstart.sh script.
  4. 9.2.36 To verify the status of License Metric Tool service, type systemctl status lmtserver in the command line.

Before you begin

To use Windows authentication, the License Metric Tool server must be started by a user who meets the following requirements.
  • The user has administrative privileges for the database and can add, remove or alter database schema elements such as tables, triggers, functions, keys, indexes and other. This user needs to have the dbcreator or sysadmin rights in the MS SQL Server database.
  • If your database server is remote, the user is a domain user who can accesses the remote database.

Procedure

  1. Optional: Check whether your MS SQL Server instance is running.
    1. Log in to the computer where the MS SQL Server is installed. You must have administrative privileges or be an MS SQL Server service owner.
    2. Start the MS SQL Server instance. For more information, see: Start, Stop, Pause, Resume, Restart MS SQL Server Services.
  2. Start the server.
    • To start the server by using a script, go to the License Metric Tool installation directory, by default C:\Program Files\ibm\LMT. Open the cli folder and run the srvstart.bat script.
    • To start the server by using Windows Services, type services in the Windows start bar, and press Enter. Locate the IBM® License Metric Tool 9.2.x service service, right-click it, and click Start.
