Backing up and restoring Installation Manager

You can back up Installation Manager by using operating system functions, or by using a backup tool.

The backup and restore steps apply only to Installation Manager.
Important: These steps do not apply to installed packages. To back up and restore a package, see the documentation for the package.

Procedure

Important: Create the backups of the directories at the same time to keep the directories synchronized for the restore process.

Create a copy of these directories:

About this task

If the agent data directory or the shared resources directory is corrupted, and you do not have a backup copy of these directories, then you cannot restore Installation Manager. You must manually uninstall packages, delete the agent data directory, and install Installation Manager. For more information about the manual uninstall process for a package, see the documentation for the package.

Procedure

  1. Restore the backup copy of these directories:
    • Agent data directory
    • Shared resources directory
    • Installation Manager installation directory
  2. Optional: If one of the following items has an issue, install Installation Manager:
    • Installation Manager installation directory
    • Installation Manager registry entries for Windows
    • Installation Manager shortcuts
