Virtual MDM Data Model overview

The virtual MDM data model for IBM® InfoSphere® MDM is designed to support a flexible workflow model that adapts to multiple applications. The database design provides the ability to create complex relations and search requests that cannot be satisfied under normal SQL relational terms. The database design also provides appropriate auditing for data governance and high performance.

The purpose of the database design is:

• Audit access to and permit governance of data;
• To support fast access to a small number of targeted records in a vast storage array;
• To allow broad storage and configuration options of data; and
• To support a flexible workflow model that adapts to multiple applications.

To these ends, the database has been carefully designed to have:

• Simple relationships
• Highly efficient, proprietary indexing strategies
• Traces of member and entity access and alteration
• A highly configurable entity algorithm scheme
• Compound attribute types that match common, real-world entities
• A highly flexible and configurable workflow type and status scheme
