Upgrading in place from 11.7 to version 11.7.1

You can use the InfoSphere® Information Server 11.7.1 in-place upgrade package to do an in-place upgrade of InfoSphere Information Server.

Overview

You can use the InfoSphere Information Server 11.7.1 in-place upgrade package to do an in-place upgrade of InfoSphere Information Server 11.7. If your 11.7 system does not currently have Enterprise Search installed, then during the upgrade to 11.7.1, you can choose to install Enterprise Search and Watson Knowledge Catalog Lite or Watson Knowledge Catalog Professional (assuming that you meet the license requirements).

System requirements

See the 11.7.1 system requirements for the in-place upgrade that you plan to do. Also, ensure that your systems meet the hardware and software requirements as some of them have changed.

Upgrade from 11.7 to 11.7.1

Upgrade to a supported operating system
Upgrade the repositories
Launching the Update Installer to upgrade to 11.7.1

The Update Installer can be launched in GUI mode or console mode.

GUI Mode: When the 11.7.1 mod pack upgrade image is used, a window will ask you whether you want to upgrade from Information Server 11.7.0.x to 11.7.1.0. Console Mode: You can upgrade silently by using this mode. You can provide a property file to control the actions performed by the Update Installer. The technote Instructions for upgrading IBM InfoSphere Information Server to version 11.7.1.0 contains a sample property file that you can edit based on your environment and upgrade needs.
