Configuring IBM InfoSphere Information Server
After you install the product, you must configure connections
to your application server and databases, enable security, and configure
other products in the suite. Completing these configuration tasks
ensures that your installation of InfoSphere® Information Server is
set up to run optimally with minimal downtime.
Configuring security for IBM InfoSphere Information Server
To configure user access and control, you choose a user registry, create users and groups in the registry, and assign security roles to define your security profile.
WebSphere Application Server cluster configuration
If you have a clustered application server environment,
some post-installation configuration steps are required. For example,
you might have already configured a front-end web server if you did
not configure it before installation, but you must provide web server
information and keys to IBM InfoSphere Information Server.
Registering and creating data stores after installation
Some product modules make use of data stores for their supporting information. The IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer database can be created before installation or by the installation program. Other data stores--the operations database, standardization rules designer database, and the exceptions database--can be created by the installation program or you can create them afterward. Depending on the installation options you chose, you might need to register them, create them, or both before you can use them.
Changing configuration of databases and data stores
You might need to change the configuration of databases and data stores that are used to run InfoSphere Information Server or its components. This might be required for a variety of reasons; for example, a change in the physical computer that hosts the data store, a change in host name or port number of the computer that hosts the data store, a change to the high-availability configuration, or a password change.
Changing application server host names and ports
IBM InfoSphere Information Server comes with default host name and port settings. If there are conflicts with your existing environment, you can change them.
Setting up firewall exceptions
In most cases, you can avoid specifying firewall exceptions by opening ports when you prepare a Microsoft Windows computer for installation. However, you might prefer to set up explicit firewall exceptions for client-side executable files that require network access.
