SQL Replication to InfoSphere DataStage tutorial
Learn how to integrate SQL Replication and InfoSphere® DataStage® to provide a real-time data feed that you can use to create dynamic data warehouses.
Learning objectives
After you complete this tutorial, you will know how to:- Set up SQL Replication between two Db2® databases by using ASNCLP command scripts
- Use the ASNCLP program to generate DataStage definition files for creating DataStage jobs
- Create a DataStage project and data connection
- Import table definitions from Db2 into DataStage
- Compile and run a DataStage job
- Browse the contents of a data set to verify end-to-end integration
Time required
Two to three hours- Introduction
This tutorial shows you how to integrate SQL Replication with InfoSphere DataStage to provide a continuous flow of data for dynamic warehousing and real-time insight and value from your business information. - Module 1: Setting up SQL Replication
In this first module of the tutorial, you will create two Db2 databases, one to serve as the replication source and one as the target. You will also create two tables and populate them with sample data that you can use to test your integration between SQL Replication and DataStage. - Module 2: Setting up InfoSphere DataStage
In this module you begin working with InfoSphere DataStage. You will use multiple DataStage interfaces to create a project, define connections to the Db2 STAGEDB database, import metadata from the CCD tables, and set properties for individual stages of the DataStage jobs. - Module 3: Running the jobs and testing integration
In the last module you compile and run the five DataStage jobs to pull data from the SQL Replication CCD tables. Finally, you will test the end-to-end integration by making changes to the source database and verifying the data flow. - Summary
In this tutorial you learned how to combine SQL Replication, DB2, and InfoSphere DataStage to create a real-time data flow that can be used for dynamic warehousing.
