Upgrading from 32-bit to 64-bit Db2 Spatial Extender

Upgrading from 32-bit to 64-bit Db2 Spatial Extender 11.5 requires that you upgrade your server to 64-bit Db2 11.5 and then upgrade specific database objects and data in spatially enabled databases.

Before you begin

Before you start the upgrade process:

Ensure that your system meets the installation requirements for Db2 Spatial Extender version 11.5.
Ensure that you have DBADM and DATAACCESS authority on the spatially enabled databases.

Procedure

To upgrade a 32-bit Db2 Spatial Extender server to 64-bit Db2 Spatial Extender 11.5:

Upgrade your 32-bit Db2 server to 64-bit Db2 11.5 using one of the following tasks:
- Upgrading your 32-bit Db2 instances to 64-bit instances (Windows)Upgrading your 32-bit Db2 instances to 64-bit instances (Windows) in Installing Db2 Servers .
- Upgrading Db2 copies (Linux® and UNIX)Upgrading Db2 copies (Linux and UNIX) in Database Administration Concepts and Configuration Reference.
In the upgrade task, you must select the installation type as custom to include the Spatial Extender as part of the Db2 version 11.5 installation.
Terminate all connections to the database.
Upgrade your spatially enabled databases from Version 9.7 or version 10.1 to version 11.5 using the db2se upgrade command.
