Releases supported and system model information for IBM i upgrades

Upgrades to current releases require that you be at a certain level of software and hardware. This information shows the supported combinations for source and current target releases for software and also system model information in relation to IBM i.

To be able to upgrade to the IBM i 7.4 release, your current version of the operating system must be either at IBM i 7.4, IBM i 7.3, or IBM i 7.2.

If your target release is IBM i 7.2 or IBM i 7.3, use the IBM i software installation information for the version of IBM i that is your target release.

Table 1 shows the currently supported combinations for source and target releases. Some of the target releases shown in this table might not be available. If the currently installed release is earlier than those listed here, you must first upgrade the system to either IBM i 7.2 or IBM i 7.3 before you can upgrade to IBM i 7.4.
