Deploying a version of a virtual appliance on a virtual server
You can use the Replace Revision option to deploy a different version of a virtual appliance on one or more virtual servers. For example, you might want to ensure that one or more virtual servers are running the same version of a particular virtual appliance. In that case, you would use the Replace Revision option to deploy the revision you choose on the selected virtual servers.

When you replace a revision, you are essentially deploying a different virtual appliance than the one that was originally deployed. IBM Flex System Manager VMControl uses the latest customization information for that virtual appliance and reapplies it automatically. You can replace the image on a virtual server from the context of a virtual appliance or the context of a virtual server.
Follow these steps to replace an image from the Virtual Appliances page:
Procedure

The Replace Revision page shows you a list of virtual servers that are candidates for being updated with that virtual appliance. These virtual servers are candidates because they were deployed using a similar version of that virtual appliance.
- Select the virtual servers whose images you want to replace with the virtual appliance you selected.
- Click Continue to replace the images of the selected virtual servers immediately or schedule the task to happen at a later time.
