Installing and configuring IBM FileNet eForms for P8

Installing IBM® FileNet® eForms for P8 enables electronic form functionality in deployments of IBM FileNet Workplace or IBM FileNet Workplace XT.

Any errors that occur during installation will be recorded in the eForms_install_log_4.0.2.0.txt file located in the IBM FileNet Application Engine or IBM FileNet Workplace XT root directory.

Important: If you have upgraded or installed a new instance of Application Engine or Workplace XT, ensure you follow the configuration information in the Set isolated region web application properties for an isolated region topic in the IBM FileNet P8 Platform documentation.

About the installation

The Application Engine or Workplace XT WAR or EAR file will be overwritten during the installation, if you have not customized the name of the file. If you want to keep your current version, copy the existing app_engine.war or app_engine.ear file to a different location.
If Java™ is installed in a non-default location, an error message displays when you launch the installer. If this occurs, you must launch the installer from a command line and add the following parameter:
```
-is:javahome jre_install_path
```
For example:
```
P8eF-4.0.2.0-AE-AIX.bin -is:javahome /opt/filenet/AE/_jvm
```
In order for your application server to access to your data, you must download and install the appropriate JDBC driver for your database. Refer to your application server documentation for instructions on configuring drivers. Do not save the drivers in either the root path or the WebSphere® Application Server directory structure.
Once FileNet P8 eForms has been installed, it can be used in standalone web applications (for example, a public-facing portal that is part of your overall FileNet P8 Platform installation). For information, see the FileNet P8 eForms Developer's Guide in the IBM FileNet P8 Platform documentation.

Important: For High Availability installations of FileNet P8 eForms, follow the standard installation procedure as outlined below. You must install and configure the FileNet P8 eForms software on each node of your cluster where IBM FileNet Application Engine or IBM FileNet Workplace XT is installed.
