Configuring a solar meter

To identify a meter as a solar meter or inverter, you must edit the solar meter settings.

Solar meter settings

Use the following steps to edit the solar meter settings:
  1. To go to the Solar Meter Settings page, from the Meters grid, click Actions > Solar Meter Settings.
  2. From the Select solar meter type list, select the appropriate solar meter type.

Tags

For monthly meter data to appear in the solar dashboards, all meters must be tagged with a solar tag. The following four tags are available:
  • Grid Consumed
  • Solar Generated
  • Solar Consumed
  • Solar Exported
For more information, see the related link about tagging data.

Solar estimation logic for missing solar data

When a solar data set is missing from a solar configuration, the solar dashboards fill in the missing months. The following table shows how the solar dashboards fill in missing information when estimation logic is used.
Table 1. Solar estimation logic for missing solar data
Scenario No. Solar Generated available? Solar Consumed available? Solar Export available? Action
1 Yes No No Copy Solar Generated to Solar Consumed. Note that we are making an assumption here that if there is only one meter on site tracking solar generated, then 100% of that solar power is consumed onsite.
2 No Yes No Copy Solar Consumed to Solar Generated
3 No No Yes Copy Solar Export to Solar Generated
4 Yes Yes No Calculate Solar Export = Generated - Consumed
5 Yes No Yes Calculate Solar Consumed = Generated - Export
6 No Yes Yes Calculate Solar Generated = Consumed + Export

Location Settings

Optionally, you can configure some settings for a solar installation at the location level, such as feed-in tariff rates, grid electricity rates, inverter manufacturers, and so on:
  1. To go to the Solar Settings page, from a location summary page, click Actions > Solar Settings.
  2. Complete the fields as required.
Note: Rate values are used in dashboards only if monthly rate data has not been loaded.
