Use the IBM Installation
Manager wizard to
install the IBM
Engineering Lifecycle Optimization - Publishing (PUB)
Publishing Document
Builder
on a server for your organization.
About this task
This task is to be completed by server administrators on a server. When the task is
complete, the following feature is installed:
- IBM
Engineering Lifecycle Optimization - Publishing
Publishing Document
Builder
which contains a web application to build reports from templates, manage assets and schedule
document generation, and a document generation node.
The 1.x Remote Services applications (Central Management, Monitor and Control,
Remote Document Generation, and Report Scheduler) are deprecated in this release. You can now
perform these tasks using Publishing Document
Builder. See Migrating assets from 1.x Remote
services to Publishing Document
Builder.
Procedure
-
Download the Engineering Publishing package
from IBM
Passport Advantage®.
-
Extract the PUB
archive.
-
Run the PUB
launchpad file by either:
- Opening the extracted PUB_version_Win_Linux/PUB/disk1 directory in an explorer window and double-clicking the launchpad file that
corresponds to your operating system:
- : launchpad.bat
- : launchpad.sh
- Opening a command prompt, navigating to extracted PUB_version_Win_Linux/PUB/disk1 directory, and entering the command that corresponds to your operating system:
- : launchpad.bat
- : ./launchpad.sh
The PUB

Installation Manager
opens.
-

Builder package and click Next.
-
If required, install or update Installation Manager. PUB

requires Installation Manager version
1.9.1.3 or
later.
Installation Manager will be
downloaded from the service repository, which requires an internet connection. If you do not have an
internet connection, you must exit Installation Manager and
manually update Installation Manager to
version 1.9.1.3.
See Updating Installation Manager by using wizard mode in
the Installation Manager product
documentation for more information.
- Select I accept the terms in the
license agreement and click Next.
- Select a location for the shared resources
directory and click Next.
The default
location is the application_files_directory\IBM\IMShared.
Example: C:\Program Files\IBM\IMShared.
If you used Installation Manager before
to install another program, the shared resources directory might already
be defined. If the shared resources directory is already defined,
this page of the wizard is skipped. You can continue to the next step.
-
In the Install Packages page, the Create a new package
group option is selected by default. This selection installs Publishing Document
Builder
into its own installation folder, separate from the desktop client or any ELM applications. Example:
C:\Program Files\IBM\DocumentBuilder for Windows or
.opt/IBM/DocumentBuilder for Linux. Click Next.
- In the Translations page, select the languages
to install and click Next.
-
In the Common Configuration pane, to install the included WebSphere Liberty server, select
Install with WAS Liberty Profile. If you plan to deploy the web applications
(WAR files) into WebSphere Application
Server, clear
Install with WAS Liberty Profile and select Install application
WAR files and specify a location to place the web applications for later deployment. The
default directory is
DocumentBuilder_installdir/server/webapps.
Click Next.
-
When you are prompted to select a context root option, select Use default
application context roots to use the /rpeng context root. If you
want to edit the default values and use your own application context roots, choose Use
your own context root values (advanced)
- Review the summary information. To change
a selection, click Back to return to your selections.
- To begin the installation, click Install.
When the installation is finished, click Finish.
