Locks

When a user opens a project or folder, or opens a module for editing, the item is locked. Locked projects and folders cannot be moved, renamed or deleted. Locked modules can only be opened in read-only mode. If a IBM® Engineering Requirements Management DOORS® (DOORS ) session ends abnormally, for example if the computer crashes, locks can be left on the data. These locks can be removed so that the data can be accessed.

About this task

The Manage Locks window does not list locks that are associated with your current DOORS session, because you must not delete these locks. If you deleted them you would corrupt your data.

If you are a standard user, all items locked by all database users are listed. You can see locks for other users, but you cannot remove the locks.

If you have a chain of locks from the root of the database, you only see the lock at the end of the chain.

Procedure

  1. In the database explorer, click Tools > Manage Locks.
  2. Select the items that you want to unlock, and click Unlock.
Note: When you open a module, you lock all the folders and projects above the module in the database tree. The lock for the module is listed, but not the associated locks in the tree above it. When you unlock the module, you also remove any associated locks that are not needed by other data that is locked elsewhere in the database tree.
